Emily Doskow

Board Member

Emily Doskow has been practicing family law in the Bay Area since 1989. She specializes in family matters including adoptions, agreements for surrogacy and sperm or egg donation, prenuptial agreements, parentage issues, and mediated and collaborative divorce. She is the author or co-author of numerous books published by Nolo, including Nolo’s Essential Guide to Divorce; Nolo’s Essential Guide to Child Custody & Support, and The Legal Guide for Lesbian & Gay Couples, and is a frequent speaker on LGBTQI family issues.

Emily is a member of the Boards of Directors of Women Lawyers of Alameda County and the Center for Understanding in Conflict. Emily was formerly a board member of NCLR from 2004-2011, including a stint as co-chair. In addition to her Board membership, she currently sits on NCLR’s National Family Law Advisory Council.

Emily has been practicing mindfulness meditation since 1998, and trains and coaches attorneys in how to use mindfulness as the foundation of competent and effective lawyering, through her business Mindfulness Over Matters.

Emily lives in Oakland with her wife, Luan Stauss.
