Dear Friend of NCLR,

Things are really heating up in our lawsuit against Minnesota’s Anoka-Hennepin School District. And now we’re turning to our community to help us raise $5,000 within the next two weeks.

Here’s why: We’re trying to place an ad in the Minneapolis Star Tribune featuring our open letter supporting the district’s LGBT students on September 6th—the first day of school.

Can you chip in? Your gift will be doubled, thanks to generous donors who have agreed to match up to $5,000 that you help us raise.

NCLR is challenging the district’s discriminatory gag policy that prevents all staff from addressing LGBT issues and has created a hostile environment where kids who are either LGBT or perceived to be LGBT are bullied and relentlessly harassed.

The more time we spend in Anoka-Hennepin—Minnesota’s largest school district with more than 38,000 students—the more we uncover about the grim reality that kids face each day. Just earlier this month, another student who had been relentlessly harassed and bullied at school came forward and became a plaintiff in our case.

We need your support today to get an ad featuring our open letter printed in the paper. (If you’ve signed our open letter, your first name, last initial, city and state will also be included in the ad!)

Make a donation—of any amount, large or smaller—today to help our efforts. Your donation will be matched dollar for dollar by our generous donors! Your $25 gift will = $50; $100 = $200; and $500 = $1,000!

We need to keep the pressure on and make sure these kids know that there are people all across the country who have their backs.

Thanks so much for all your help and we’ll keep you updated as the case—and our campaign for these kids—progresses.

In solidarity,
