Bethany Woolman | communications associate

Bethany joined NCLR in December 2011. Prior to joining NCLR, Bethany worked with the American Civil Liberties Union of Northern California as a John Gardner Public Service Fellow, where she focused on strategic communications. She worked on a range of ACLU projects, including racial justice, educational equity, crime and policing, and protecting the rights of LGBT youth in schools.

Bethany has served as an arts instructor with youth in juvenile hall and with at-risk students across the Bay Area. In 2009, Bethany was named as a national Harry S. Truman Scholar for her work on juvenile justice policy in Oakland, California and Wellington, New Zealand. In her spare time, she enjoys rock-climbing, painting, and experimental cooking.

Bethany received her B.A. from Stanford University in 2010, where she majored in Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity.
