Equality California, National Center for Lesbian Rights to Host Dinah Shore Champagne Brunch

Palm Springs Councilmember Ginny Foat to be honored

What: Equality California (EQCA) and the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR) will honor Palm Springs City Councilmember Ginny Foat at the NCLR-EQCA Dinah Shore Champagne Brunch during this year’s Dinah Shore Weekend in Palm Springs. Foat, an openly lesbian member of the Palm Springs City Council, has worked tirelessly advocating for women and LGBT rights. Her lifetime commitment to progressive issues and her steadfast leadership with the National Organization of Women (NOW) has helped the modern LGBT equality movement gain the support it now enjoys.

“We are thrilled to honor Councilwoman Foat—a dedicated, compassionate, and inspirational leader whose commitment to justice has made a lasting impact in the LGBT and woman’s movements,” said Geoff Kors, Equality California executive director.

“If every elected official brought to the job Ginny’s commitment to transparency, opportunity, and fair play, we would all be much better off,” said NCLR Executive Director Kate Kendell. “Ginny’s history of public service is inspiring and has helped transform Palm Springs into an enviable place to live and work.”

When: The champagne brunch, sponsored by Integrated Wealth Management, is set to take place on Saturday, April 3, 2010, at 11 AM during the Dinah Shore Weekend.

How: To attend, please RSVP by April 1 to Eleanor Palacios at epalacios@nclrights.org, (please include “Dinah Brunch” in the subject line of your email), or call 415.365.1309. Reservations will be held at the door. Address will be provided upon receiving RSVP. Suggested donation is $100. Event proceeds will benefit EQCA and NCLR.
