National Center for Lesbian Rights Condemns United States Senate Judiciary Committee Endorsement of Samuel Alito's Supreme Court nomination

NCLR Urges The Senate To Reject Nomination

(Washington, D.C., January 24, 2006) — Today, the National Center for Lesbian Rights condemns the United States Senate Judiciary Committee's endorsement of United States Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito. The Committee's ten Republicans voted for the nomination and eight Democrats voted against Alito, allowing the nomination to advance to a full Senate vote, which is expected to take place later this week. The Committee's favorable recommendation jeopardizes reproductive freedom and civil rights for LGBT individuals.
