Achieving LGBTQ Equality Through Litigation, Legislation, Policy, and Public Education

Change Lives and Your Support Will Be Doubled

A few days ago we announced NCLR’s Matching Gift Campaign for Justice and Equality. I wanted to be sure that you knew your year-end tax-deductible gift will be matched dollar for dollar.

Your generosity supports our life-changing family law services. And here is a perfect example: just this morning the U.S. Supreme Court granted our emergency request and, for the first time since April, our client, a lesbian mother in Alabama, will have visitation with her three children!

I could not be more gratified. Helping families and children has been my passion throughout my career. I know that these issues are some of the hardest challenges a family can face and it is my privilege to be able to represent our clients and help families stay together. But it is a daily fight. Please join us in fighting back!

Please make a tax-deductible gift today—which will be doubled in value—in support of all of our work for justice and equality.

This work is nothing new to NCLR. In fact, when we were founded in 1977, we represented parents losing custody just because of their sexual orientation. We quickly expanded to working on all issues faced by LGBT people and their families, but family law remains a core part of our work. And unfortunately, a necessary part of our work.

Right now, your gift to NCLR will be matched, doubling the impact of your support for the entire LGBT community—especially children and families.

We’re gearing up for the next chapter in our Alabama case. In an unprecedented ruling earlier this year, the Alabama Supreme Court voided our client’s adoption and denied her visitation with her children. Today she will visit her kids, but we still have to fight to assure her adoption is honored. We need your support to do this work.

One day, every parent and child will be given the dignity and recognition they deserve regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Until then, we’ll be here…fighting. Please stand with us by donating your most generous gift today!

In solidarity,

Cathy Sakimura, Esq.
Deputy Director & Family Law Director
