Achieving LGBTQ Equality Through Litigation, Legislation, Policy, and Public Education for 40 Years

What you did

We just dodged a bullet.  Thanks to every one of you who responded to our alerts to speak up, call your representatives, or join a protest, the GOP’s attempt to destroy the Affordable Care Act was thwarted.  Your voice matters, and together, our voices are growing stronger and stronger every day.

But the battle continues—and LGBTQ people are squarely in the crosshairs. Please help NCLR continue to respond as quickly, creatively and fiercely as we possibly can.

Since President Obama took office in 2008, NCLR has been at the forefront of ensuring that federal health care law included the entire LGBTQ community, including people with HIV and reproductive care.  The Affordable Care Act represented a huge victory for civil rights for all.

For eight years, NCLR’s legal and policy directors worked with key leaders in the Obama administration to ensure that the Affordable Care Act covered the full scope of care needed by transgender people, women, and people with HIV, and that it prohibited discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.

NCLR staff also worked tirelessly to ensure that in every agency across the federal government, policies were changed to prohibit discrimination against LGBTQ people.

We have fought too hard and too long to see these protections wiped out by this brutal, reckless, and hateful administration. Can you make a gift of any size help us right now? There is one more day to make a gift that will be doubled in our Matching Gift Campaign.

With your help, we will continue to amplify your voice and to mobilize the full force of our community’s power—in Congress, in state legislatures, and in the courts.

There’s still time for your support to go twice as far. Let’s get this done together.
