“There is a direct line between this horrific new law in Uganda and the relentless efforts of our opponents in the U.S. to demonize LGBTQ+ people and strip them of rights. Our hearts go out to LGBTQ+ Ugandans and their families, who are facing one of the worst human rights crises of our times.

Every person in this country has a responsibility not only to speak out against this law, but to take action where you live to support equality for LGBTQ+ people and to oppose the onslaught of state laws that are devastating the lives of transgender young people, censoring pro-LGBTQ+ speech, and perpetuating vicious stereotypes about LGBTQ+ people.”
