June Crenshaw is an accomplished nonprofit executive and nationally recognized LGBTQ+ community leader with more than three decades of experience advancing equality, strengthening nonprofit organizations, and building partnerships that create lasting impact. She currently serves as Chief Operating Officer of Capital Pride Alliance, where she oversees organizational operations, strategic initiatives, human resources, volunteer engagement, and community partnerships in support of one of the nation’s largest Pride organizations. 

Before joining Capital Pride Alliance, June served for nearly a decade as Executive Director of the Wanda Alston Foundation, where she expanded housing and supportive services for LGBTQ+ youth experiencing homelessness. Under her leadership, the organization strengthened its financial sustainability, increased its community impact, and became a leading voice for LGBTQ+ youth in the Washington, DC, region. 

June’s commitment to service extends well beyond her executive leadership. She has served as both a Board Member and Board Chair of Whitman-Walker Health and the Rainbow Response Coalition and has also served on the boards of the Whitman-Walker Foundation and the Human Rights Campaign. She has further served on the Advisory Board of the DC Mayor’s Office of LGBTQ Affairs and contributed to the DC Interagency Council on Homelessness’s work on issues affecting LGBTQ+ people experiencing homelessness. Throughout her career, she has worked to advance health equity, LGBTQ+ civil rights, community safety, and public policy, while advocating for historically underserved communities. 

Known for her collaborative leadership style and operational expertise, June has guided organizations through periods of growth, transformation, and change while fostering cultures rooted in equity, accountability, and service. She is passionate about mentoring emerging leaders, strengthening nonprofit governance, and building resilient organizations that create lasting change. 

June has been recognized with numerous honors throughout her career for her leadership and service to the LGBTQ+ community. Most recently, she received the National Black Justice Collective’s Audre Lorde Wisdom Award, recognizing her enduring commitment to advancing justice, equity, and opportunity for LGBTQ+ people.
