IN VISALIA, CA: USDA, NCLR Co-host Visalia LGBT Rural Summit

(Visalia, CA, July 14, 2016)–The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR) will host the 12th LGBT #RuralPride Summit at the Visalia Convention Center on July 21st. Co-hosted by the True Colors Fund, this free event will feature panels and workshops addressing challenges faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) individuals who live and work in Central California.

LGBT people live in every town across the country, but those in rural communities often face unique obstacles. Launched in 2014, the LGBT #RuralPride Summit Series offers a platform for rural LGBT Americans, advocates, federal agencies, and nonprofits to address the specific needs of rural communities, and discuss federal initiatives that aim to increase access to opportunities for LGBT adults, youth, and their families. By working together, we can ensure all rural Americans have access to the resources they need to thrive.
