(San Francisco, CA, April 2, 2015)—This afternoon, and minutes after clearing the Indiana State House, Governor Mike Pence signed a bill “fixing” the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. However, despite claims that the fix will prevent discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity, LGBTQ individuals still lack full protection in the state.
Statement from NCLR Executive Director Kate Kendell:
“The anemic language “fix” now signed into law by Governor Pence is grossly inadequate. Until all Hoosiers can be assured they will not face discrimination for who they are, there will be no resolution.”
