Mission-Driven Finance Leader Brings 17 Years of Nonprofit Expertise to National LGBTQ Civil Rights Organization

SAN FRANCISCO — The National Center for LGBTQ Rights (NCLR), a leading national civil rights organization dedicated to advancing the rights of LGBTQ people and their families, today announced the appointment of Ericka Hobbs-Session as Vice President of Finance and Administration. In this role, Hobbs-Session will oversee all of NCLR’s financial operations and administrative functions as the organization continues to expand its impact in the face of escalating attacks on LGBTQ rights across the country.

Hobbs-Session joins NCLR with 17 years of nonprofit leadership experience spanning finance, health care administration, early childhood education, housing, human resources, IT, risk management, strategic planning and operations. She brings a comprehensive record of overseeing all financial functions—including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, grants management, treasury, tax compliance, investments, contract negotiations, endowment fund management, and audits—and has successfully managed budgets of up to $22 million across organizations serving diverse and vulnerable communities.

“Ericka brings exactly the kind of strategic financial leadership and operational depth that NCLR needs as we navigate this critical moment for LGBTQ rights,” said Imani Rupert-Gordon, NCLR’s President. “Her record of fiscal stewardship, collaborative leadership, and mission alignment make her an exceptional addition to our team. We are thrilled to welcome her to our team.”

Most recently, Hobbs-Session served as Chief Financial Officer at Austin Child Guidance Center, where she provided executive oversight of finance, health care administration, HR, IT, and operations, managing a $3.9 million budget serving more than 1,100 children and families annually. She also served on the Executive Team as Interim Executive Director and achieved five consecutive years of zero audit findings. Prior to that role, she served as Director of Finance and Administration at AIDS Services of Austin (now Vivent Health), where she oversaw a budget exceeding $9 million and provided fiscal oversight of comprehensive medical, housing, food, and case management services.

“I am honored to join NCLR at such a pivotal time,” said Hobbs-Session. “NCLR’s decades of work advancing justice for LGBTQ people and families is extraordinary, and I look forward to bringing my experience in financial leadership and operational stewardship to support that mission. Strong financial infrastructure is what allows organizations like NCLR to do the bold, necessary work that our community depends on.”

Hobbs-Session’s career also includes leadership roles as Controller at Easter Seals Central Texas, where she directed financial and compliance functions for programs serving children and adults with disabilities, and as Fiscal Manager at Child Inc., where she oversaw $22 million in total funding—including $16 million in federal Head Start funding—for programs serving more than 2,100 children across 17 locations.
