NFL punter will join National Center for Lesbian Rights’ Kate Kendell and Geoff Kors at LGBTQ Rights Fundraiser

(San Francisco, CA, October 17, 2013)—NFL Punter Chris Kluwe is joining Kate Kendell, the Executive Director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR), and Geoff Kors, NCLR’s Senior Legislative and Policy Strategist, for a special fundraiser to support marriage equality in San Francisco on November 6.

Kluwe has been a vocal supporter of the freedom to marry for same-sex couples. Last year, he published a letter in the Huffington Post strongly supporting Brendon Ayanbadejo, a linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens, who had also spoken up for marriage equality. Together, Kluwe and Ayanbadejo filed an amicus brief earlier this year in Hollingsworth v. Perry, the federal challenge to California’s Proposition 8, which the U.S. Supreme Court overturned this summer.

The fundraiser will benefit NCLR, a national legal organization that has been at the forefront of legal gains and victories for the LGBTQ community since it was founded in 1977.

“The LGBTQ movement has experienced incredible progress,” said Kendell. “Our recent gains have been breathtaking. But we still have more work to do in creating a truly just society, and we could not keep moving forward without the support of individuals like Chris.”

The fundraiser will be held Wednesday, November 6, from 6-8 p.m. at Infusion Lounge. The event is free ($100 donation is suggested). Space is limited and this event is sure to fill up.
